DIY

I love to DIY (Do It Yourself) for my home improvement. I love to rearrange the layout of my bedroom because it is really fun……

My former bedroom was about 20 sq.m., one dark brown wall and others were white. My room wasn’t so big but I love this size. It was easy to organize, arrange otherwise I would have to buy a lot of furniture. Idecorated my room like room in 70’s. It was sort of nostalgia and reminded me to the time, when I was young.

To speak about lighting,
I used both warm and cool lights in my room. Actually i should have said, warm and cool”color temperature” but it would sound so technical.

Once, I made a research concerning light colors when I was studying in master degree.

It is very interesting to find out, how we react to those effects. Somehow one has different perception to another.

Red
Both red color and light have the same properties, therefore to stimulate our eye perception in the same way.
Positive: Physical courage, strength, warmth, energy, stimulation, masculinity, and excitement.
Negative: Defiance, aggression, visual impact, strain, crime.

Blue
blue has direct effect to us. Darkblue or strong bluelight creates cold, or silent atmosphere, but very light blue or blueish white creates the fresh and serenity atmospheres.
Positive: Intelligence, communication, trust, efficiency, serenity, duty, logic, coolness, calm, freshness.
Negative: Coldness, lack of emotion.

Yellow
The yellow wavelength is relatively long and essentially stimulating. In this case the stimulus is emotional, because yellow is the strongest color, psychologically. The right yellow will lift our spirits and our self-esteem; it is the color of confidence and optimism. Too much of it, or the wrong tone in relation to the other tones in a color scheme, can cause self-esteem to plummet, giving rise to fear and anxiety. Moreover, yellow light is used in medical treatment.
Positive: Optimism, confidence, self-esteem, extraversion, emotional strength, friendliness, and creativity.
Negative: Irrationality, fear, emotional fragility, anxiety, suicide, sickness.

Green
Being in the center of the spectrum, Negatively, it can indicate stagnation and, incorrectly used, will be perceived as being too bland.
Positive: Harmony, balance, refreshment, universal love, rest, restoration, reassurance, environmental awareness, equilibrium, and peace.
Negative: Boredom, stagnation, sickness.

Violet
The shortest wavelength is violet, often described as purple. It takes awareness to a higher level of thought, even into the realms of spiritual values. It is highly introversive and encourages deep contemplation, or meditation. It has associations with royalty and usually communicates the finest possible quality. Being the last visible wavelength before the ultra-violet ray, it has associations with time and space and the cosmos. Excessive use of purple can bring about too much introspection and the wrong tone of it communicates something inferiority, and mysterious.
Positive: Spiritual awareness, containment, vision, luxury, authenticity, truth, and quality.
Negative: Introversion, decadence, suppression, inferiority, mysterious.

Orange
orange light or orangeish light is similar or nearly the same as the sunrise and sunset. These create the feeling of going home, longing for someone or something, but the situations depend on the additional surrounding and environment as well.
Positive: Physical comfort, food, warmth, security, sensuality, passion, abundance, and fun.
Negative: Deprivation, frustration, frivolity, immaturity.

Pink
Both pink color and light represent the feminine principle, and survival of the species; it is nurturing and physically soothing. Too much pink is physically draining and can be somewhat emasculating.
Positive: Physical tranquility, nurture, warmth, femininity, love, sexuality, and innocence.
Negative: Inhibition, physical weakness, childish.

White
In effect, it reflects the full force of the spectrum into our eyes. Thus it also creates barriers, but differently from black, and it is often a strain to look at. Visually, white gives a heightened perception of space. The negative effect of white on warmth is to make them look and feel garish.
Positive: Hygiene, sterility, clarity, purity, cleanness, simplicity, sophistication, and efficiency.
Negative: Sterility, coldness, barriers, unfriendliness, elitism.

“We cannot produce brown light.”

We perceive these colors of light through our eye perception. With shading value creates more influence because we are phototropic and we suppose to be in the surrounding of daylight, which has the tones of whiteish colors. Blueish daylight creates fresh and bright atmospheres, when redish light of dawn creates the feeling of going home and redish light of early morning creates the feeling of new day and new born. These phenomena have been parts of our instincts, likewise when birds fly back to their nests.
